Usage model

One number to understand: origin images

An origin image is one source file in your bucket, counted once per calendar month however many sizes and formats it's served in. Repeat views come from cache and are free.

Every size and format included

Each origin image covers up to 5 sizes a month, which is more than a typical srcset requests. A crop or effect, such as a face crop or a blur, counts as a size. AVIF, WebP, and JPEG versions never count extra.

Cache works in your favor

Once a size is generated, repeat views are served from the edge for free, and your Supabase bucket only sees a request when a new size is needed.

How the comparison works

Supabase includes 100 origin images on paid plans, then charges $5 per 1,000, and doesn't offer transformations on its Free plan. Prices checked September 2026.
